EMDR Consultation Services

Our EMDR Consultants in Training offer EMDRIA-approved individual and group consultation hours to EMDR-trained clinicians working toward certification and clinicians seeking personalized support in case conceptualization, protocol selection, and clinical challenges across the eight phases of EMDR. Individual consultation is tailored to the clinician’s training level, theoretical orientation, and professional goals, while maintaining adherence to EMDRIA standards.

Areas of focus may include complex and developmental trauma, attachment-based EMDR, recent traumatic events, clinician confidence, and integrating EMDR within relational and systemic frameworks. Our Consultants in Training approach consultation with curiosity, collaboration, and a strong emphasis on clinical integrity and growth.

In addition to providing EMDR therapy and consultation services, our Consultants in Training serve as coaches supporting EMDR Basic Trainings throughout Arizona, contributing to a structured, supportive training environment for developing EMDR clinicians.

EMDR Peer Group Support

The EMDR Leadership team is hosting a free Peer Support Group for EMDR trained clinicians in the East Valley. The group will be led by our EMDRIA-certified clinicians and current Consultants in Training, Desiree Barnett, LMFT, and Kylie Nunn, LMFT.

The group will be an opportunity to discuss the EMDR process, themes/target conceptualization, and support each other with utilizing EMDR. We will have water and light snacks available.

Desiree Barnett, EMDRIA-Certified Therapist

As part of the EMDR Leadership and Intensive Therapy Team within the clinic, Desiree has 10+ years of experience in working with couples, families, and individuals with complex needs.  Desiree is currently a Consultant in Training and Coach through EMDRIA and uses a trauma-informed and relational lens in her approach with clients, consultees, and other clinicians during peer support.

Since completing her certification process, Desiree has invested in many advanced EMDR trainings, such as R-TEP/G-TEP, attachment-focused courses, EMDR for couples, and Ego State Theory to expand her scope of practice. Some specific areas of passion for Desiree include relational traumas and couples' work, the Ego-state approach, somatic EMDR support, intensive EMDR sessions, and incorporating EMDR with parts and inner child work.

Desiree offers consultation through the EMDR certification process or for stand-alone needs. Within consultation, Desiree will work closely with consultees to effectively implement the standard 8 Phase EMDR protocol, explore case conceptualization using the AIP model, and support consultees through “therapist as self” reflections.  She is proud to promote the development of confidence and creativity for the consultee to use their own unique strengths and therapeutic style within the EMDR modality.

Kylie Nunn, EMDRIA-Certified Therapist

Kylie is an EMDRIA-certified therapist and EMDR Consultant in Training who is passionate about supporting clinicians in developing confidence, attunement, and clinical depth in their EMDR practice. She offers consultation and support in a collaborative, affirming, and relationally grounded manner, meeting clinicians where they are in their EMDR journey.

Kylie has extensive experience utilizing a range of EMDR protocols and approaches, including Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol (RTEP), Group Traumatic Episode Protocol (GTEP), Ego State Theory, Enactment-Focused EMDR, and Attachment-Focused EMDR. She also offers consultation on the application of EMDR with gender-diverse and neurodivergent populations, with attention to nervous system regulation, identity development, and clinician self-of-the-therapist awareness.

In her role as a consultant, Kylie emphasizes case conceptualization through the AIP framework, treatment planning, protocol selection, and clinical decision-making throughout all eight phases of EMDR. She supports consultees in integrating EMDR with relational, attachment-based, and systemic perspectives while maintaining adherence to EMDRIA standards. Kylie has previously taught graduate-level coursework in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at Arizona State University and brings an educator’s lens to consultation, prioritizing clarity, structure, and professional growth. She facilitates EMDR peer support groups for mental health professionals in the greater Phoenix-East Valley area and is committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive, and reflective EMDR community.
